- Adjusting images
The Glyph View can show a background image for each layer. This feature can be used to import scans of drawings or of printed typefaces for digitisation.
FEA files are typically found in UFO files, along with.PLIST,.GLIF, and.PNG files. The files should not be removed from UFO files and are commonly accessed when a program, such as FontForge, RoboFont, or Glyphs, opens the UFO file. However, if you need to manually view an FEA file, you can open it in a text editor since it is saved in plain. Only Input (Sans Condensed and Compressed) is used on RoboFont Extensions, an online catalog of scripts for the UFO based font editor RoboFont. Adjusting scale
Before you can start digitising an image, you’ll need to adjust the scanned drawing to the glyph’s coordinate space.
The Set Scale sheet makes it easy to position and scale your imageby clicking on 3 reference points:
- The origin point, or
(0, 0)
. - A second point along the baseline. This will define the x-axis.
- A third point to define the height of the image. This point can be at the x-height, cap-height, ascender or descender.

When you’re done, click on the Scale button to apply the settings. The image will be transformed to match the 3 points.
